TONIGHT WAS the monthly meeting the HAM Board of Directors meeting is held at 6:00pm at Burger Style Cafe at 1200 E Davis St, Mesquite, TX 75149.

HAM Association of Mesquite monthly meeting - Please join us Thursday Apr 5th, 2018 at 7 p.m. We meet at the Rutherford Community Center at 900 Rutherford Dr, Mesquite, TX 75149 Frank Krizan, KR1ZAN, will describe the evolution of the Outernet project and describe the “ham radio connection” which provides for an APRS and AMSAT channel. He will describe how Outernet receivers can be used in the U.S. for amateur radio communications, especially in remote areas where the internet and cell-phone service isn’t available, and, in natural disasters.

TEXAS STATE PARKS ON THE AIR

Casual contest style event. Encouraging those from home to make contacts with folks at state parks and park to park contacts.


The first of two Ham Radio in The Park will be held on Saturday April 14th at the MFD Training facility located at 215 Holly Park Dr. This will be from about 8:30am to about 12:00 noon - could run a little later to fulfill objectives. The objective is to come up with basic Field Day site plan and build and test the basic antenna systems for FD 2018 activities.

TRAINING CLASS AND EXAM - APRIL 14th will be holding our next Technician Training class and exam next month.
When: Saturday April 14, 2018 Class: 8:30AM – 4:00PM (Lunch will be provided)
Exam: 4:30PM – 6:00PM
Where: North Pointe Church of Christ 7030 Hwy 78 Sachse, TX (Behind Chicken Express)
Cost: Training Class: Free Exam: $15
Testing for General and Extra class as well.

On April 7, 1928, the Detroit police department was the first in the U.S. to communicate with patrol cars via radio. This April 7, a group of Southeast Michigan amateur radio operators are going to commemorate this by operating special event station K0P near the police station on Belle Isle State Park.
