Byte Banditos,

Here's a pretty interesting project from HackADay that integrates a Raspberry Pi and a Baofeng 888S transceiver into an Echolink Node.

Instead of the 888S, a UV5x, or other transceiver could be adapted.

SVXLink is a Linux port of EchoLink that would run over Wheezy Raspian and an interface board.

http://kp4tr.org/?page_id=362 and http://hackaday.com/2014/02/06/pi-power ... ore-114276

Some nice videos and it may be operated from Ethernet or WiFi with a powered hub.

Best thing here is high availability Linux box with low cost!

I may do one of these with a Motorola Saber which will have much better front end filtering and RF quality. Saber 1 can be found for the same price as a Baofeng 888s!

Very cool! I saw a neat deal in the 4SQRP Banner pdf newsletter in February where a guy had built up a Pi B model with 12 volt monitor and a usb sound card to run FLDIGI with his KX3.
